Barilla started life in 1877, in a small pasta
and bread shop in Parma, and has become one of the largest
food producers in Italy, the world’s leading pasta producer,
the European market leader in the ready sauces sector,
the largest manufacturer of oven products in Italy, and
of crispbreads in Scandinavia.
The Company has been run by the same family for over
130 years, and is now in its fourth generation, represented
by the brothers Guido, Luca and Poalo, and their sister
Emanuela.
Barilla’s has always focused on healthy eating, through
wheat-based, everyday products that are both tasty and
nutritionally balanced, and has achieved an international
reputation thanks to the quality of its products – the
result of significant investment in research, innovation
and technologies – and continuous marketing campaigns.
Barilla owns 26 production facilities (14 in Italy and
12 overseas), including 9 mills, which are managed directly
and produce the vast majority of the raw materials used
to create its pasta and oven products.
The company exports to over one hundred countries. Every
year its factories manufacture over 1,400,000 tonnes
of food products that are consumed all over the world,
under the following brands: Barilla, Mulino Bianco, Pavesi,
Academia Barilla, Wasa, Misko (Greece), Filiz (Turkey),
Yemina and Vesta (Mexico) In addition to the product
brands, the Barilla group also includes the Number 1
brand, a subsidiary company specialising in logistics
services, and First, which deals with retail sales services.
Thanks
to a respect for the traditional but very real principles
and values expressed in Our Commitment, the management
of human resources as a fundamental asset, and state
of the art production systems, Barilla has become one
of the most highly reputed food producers in the world
and an expression of Italian "know how".
